PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) kicked off the trend of battle royale games when it debuted in 2017. The mobile version has proven extremely popular around the world.
Some colleges and schools has been in the news for banning the game as it impacts school students as well as adult gamers negatively.
- The blood and gore portrayed in the game can negatively affect the minds of children as well as adults.
- The great graphics and console-quality gameplay have resulted in serious addiction amongst players. Parents and institutions have reported that children tend to focus more on PUBG instead of their studies, which indirectly affects their education. Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) reportedly banned PUBG inside its campus.
- PUBG on small 5-6-inch screens may result in eyesight issues.
PUBG Corporation and publisher Tencent Games are introducing a new gameplay management system that will encourage players to be aware of their play time on PUBG Mobile.
The gameplay management system will ask players to confirm their age when they first log in to the game. Any player under the age of 18 will have to acknowledge a gaming advisory pop-up before they can actually play the game.
Similar pop-up notifications will appear between matches to remind players to rest or stop playing the game, depending on how long they have been logged in. This system has already been deployed in certain areas like Indonesia, India, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
