Press Conference: Thomas Tuchel on Kovacic, Lampard, Arteta and more

Chelsea are set to face Arsenal on Wednesday as the Premier League action continues. Ahead of the match head coach Thomas Tuchel has talked to the press and here is what he said. On the latest team news: "We have an eye on the players workload and the statistics we have, who is overloaded and from that we will decide who has a risk of injury. Everyone who isn't a risk will be available for the game. It's not to manage the game on Saturday as we are in the middle of a race. It's not the time to judge games." More on Andreas Christensen and Mateo Kovacic injuries: "Kova isn't ready for tomorrow. The personal race is on to try to make it to Wembley. Andreas' was better than we feared. We hope he'll be back for one of the two Leicester games. It will be a tough one but the game isn't finished for him hopefully." On whether Frank Lampard deserve credit: "Frank had an amazing record in the group stage of the Champions League. Won all the FA Cup games. He's laid the foundation to get us to finals and we don't feel ashamed or have any fear to speak it out loud. It felt like that on the first day. I am aware Frank created his own legacy as a player and make it bigger as a coach. "We stepped in halfway through the season and tried to fulfil the job he had began. "Frank resembles everything you think about Chelsea. You think about Frank Lampard, the way he is, how he played football. This shows his character and the message he sent was a pleasure to receive. We had a message a couple of days after we arrived but nothing more." On Mikel Arteta: "I know what I go through when we don't win: it's the most horrible situation in the whole world no matter if you coach in the academy or professional football. "That doesn't change during the week and it's the same for everybody. We are fully focused on ourselves and it's not for me to comment on Arsenal's situation. Nothing surprises me about this league, you can catch a streak or get caught in any match. "That is what we signed up for the toughest competition in Europe. Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and we will prepare for our best level." On assessing Edouard Mendy and his performances: "We can't praise him enough because he's doing fantastically. He came from a club where he isn't used to play every three days so the concentration level is very high to have to deliver. "The three goalkeepers are all fantastic guys, great examples of true commitment and sportsmanship. We're very happy to have Edou on a good run. He's a friendly and humble person and this calmness helps him during matches to influence the defenders. It's nice. "He is part of a goalkeeper group that's outstanding and without strong guys in goal you can't win games." On Timo Werner's attitude: "No frustration with Timo being offside. He will improve and learn from that. Maybe don't take too much risk, take more care about his starting position. There is room for improvement but it's one of his strengths to play on the edge. "Don't forget, he is the guy that gave the assist so was again involved. A short one-on-one run and a nice cutback. He is involved in our chances and there is still room for improvement. That's the way you'd want it."
