Press Conference: Pep Guardiola on injuries, Ruben Dias, title race, West Ham and more

Manchester City will be in action for their next Premier League clash against West Ham on Saturday. Citizens will be hoping to celebrate another win, following Wednesday's 3 - 1 Champions League victory over Porto. Ahead of tomorrow's match, Pep Guardiola met the press. City boss revealed it's difficult to control injuries of the players as, amid the new competitions in Europe, they have just two or three weeks to rest. Speaking on replacing the club captain Fernandinho due to injury, he said:
A leader can be on and off the pitch. Except 90 minutes we spend a lot of time. He can help in other ways. It looks like he will be out shorter than one month so it is good. He is tough.
Guardiola claimed Benjamin Mendy will be "out for tomorrow and the next days", while speaking on Gabriel Jesus' fitness, he said:
He's getting better but a tough injury. Hopefully still he couldn't train with us. He will be ready when he does train because he gets the form quickly but maybe one week, two weeks before that.
The Portuguese manager talked about the club newcomer Ruben Dias and how the player adapts to the squad.
He settled good. He came from Benfica fully fit. He still needs time to get some situations, some ideas, some rhythm and process we need. He's open minded.
Being asked if John Stones could play in midfield, Guardiola replied:
No. I see his position as central defender. If we have some problems maybe but for now I want him confident as a centre-back.
Sky Blues boss also shared his thoughts on the Premier League rivals, West Ham, saying:
The past is the past, we have good results. What we saw against Tottenham, always West Ham have qulity players. They play really well against Tottenham, not just the last minutes, even at 3-0 down they play with a lot of personality. They are in good form. Definitely they are in a good moment.
Speaking on Man City's title race for the campaign, Guardiola added:
I don't know. To early to know it. It looks like there are unexpected results, but the situation is all over the world not just in this bubble. In our normal lives you cannot go out as usual in the restaurants and that is a problem so everyone takes influence in the games. It's only four games.
I think before I came here the history of the PL speaks for itself. It's the most open league inthe world. The last two seasons, two teams dominate the league with a big big game between the other ones is an exceptional season for this league. The normality will be back this season.
