Press conference: Pep Guardiola on injuries, new signings, Foden incident, Thiago to Liverpool and more

Manchester City will be on action for their first Premier League clash against Wolves on Monday evening. The Sky Blues have finished the on the second place behind Liverpool last term, while they are looking to bring back the league title during the 2020/21 campaign. And ahead of their return to the competition, the club boss Pep Guardiola has met media. He shared the latest injury news, claiming Sergio Aguero will still be out of the game. Aymeric Laporte is also not expected to feature for the upcoming clash, while Rihad Mahrez is fit and could be inlcuded in the squad.
Riyad came back three or four days ago and today was the first day that Aymeric Laporte came back to us. I think Riyad will be available, Laporte not yet
The Spanish manager also spoke about the club newcomers, Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres and how they have started.
So far it’s really good. All the players and staff and people close to them to help them to settle as soon as possible but the most important thing is they are nice people and they are going to help us.
He also opened up on Ake's possible role in the squad, saying:
We bought Nathan Ake as a centre-back but sometimes he can help us as a full-back. Maybe if we get injuries, he can play there.
Guardiola didn't want to give any updates about the transfer window, while speaking about the transfer activity of City, said:
Since day one when I arrived here I’m more than satisfied with what I had in the team. I know the club do absolutely everything to do their best not just for me but for all of us. What’s going to happen is going to happen, if we stay with the players we have we will be happy . Never before and never in the future am I going to complain. I am a lucky person to have these players and to be at this club.
When being asked about Phil Foden state after the incident during the youngster's international duty with England team, manager said:
He is well. The time I saw him in these three or four days. He knows he made a mistake and that is all.
The Spaniard also reacted as Liverpool have reached agreement for Thiago Alcantara transfer. Asked on whether City were interested in singing Bayern Munich midfielder, he answered:
No, because we have enough players in this position. I am happy that Thiago comes to England because England is going to enjoy a really good player . Phil can play in that position, striker as well and wingers, without a problem.
The Sky Blues were heavily linked with the move for Barcelona star Lionel Messi when the Argentina international had requested to leave the club this summer. As now he will stay at Camp Nou for the 2020/21 season, Guardiola was asked on the possible reunion with the player in the future.
I don’t know. It’s a question for Leo Messi. I cannot talk about the intentions for other people.
Speaking about the first Premier League opponents of the season and playing against them, manager said:
I see the team as always, it is a joy to work with them. We have good expectations to get good football and the results that this team deserves. We want to continue the consistency we have shown in the last few years. Wolves were always strong, even when they were in the Championship. It was always a difficult game but it will not be difficult against Leicester or Leeds away. We know exactly how tough the Premier League is.
