Press Conference: Pep Guardiola on Deadline day transfer, Jose Mourinho and Leroy Sane

Tottenham will host Manchester City at White Hart Lane in the Premier League clash on Sunday. The match will be crucial for two clubs. Tottenham are sixth in the Premier League table with 34 points, while Manchester City are second with 51 points. Ahead of the game against Spurs, City boss Pep Guardiola has faced the press. Guardiola was asked if he will make any late signings and answered “You know the answer. You know the answer.” The Blues boss gave latest injury updates on Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane. “Laporte is ok. He’s got a bit of fatigue. No injury but we don’t want to take risks. Hopefully, he can play against Spurs but if not maybe vs West Ham,” said Guardiola and on Sane added, “He’s training with us. He’s moving surprisingly well. It’s nice to see him back.” Pep was asked whether Spurs improved under Jose Mourinho. “I saw one game and a half of Tottenham under Mourinho. Everybody knows about him, his personality as a manager and of course, when you take over a team during the season, it’s not easy. Always you need time but we will see in the future,” he said. The Blues boss was also asked did he ever considered recalling Tosin Adarabioyo from his loan spell: “No. Laporte is back, dinho is there, John is there, Nico is there. Eric [Garcia] has been working with us a long time and he’s playing good.” On the game plan against Spurs, Guardiola added: "I have an idea. One game especially and I have an idea. I have an idea but I’m not going to tell you.” Guardiola also spoke about the rivalry with Mourinho. “Maybe we are older and more experienced. I don’t know. I know every time when we were at United or here, it was just about my press conference if I say something or if he say something. I’m sorry it didn’t happen,” said Guardiola. On Jose Mourinho’s latest struggles, Guardiola said: “He’s a manager with a lot of experience and a lot of success. He shouldn’t be judged for one season. I know we are judged for the last game and for the ideas that we have but as a professional I try to judge my colleagues not just for one year, but over 10 to 15 years. Every manager has good and bad periods. Jose was there for 15 or 20 years, being there (successful) all the time and that must be respected, because I think it is the most difficult thing. Normally in sport, you lose more than win. An example is Michael Jordan. He won six NBA titles in 16 or 17 years. They lost more than they won.” Guardiola was asked, did Mourinho spur him on: “I think with him or without him, I try to do my best. Of course I have to learn what he does with his teams but without him I would have done the same, there would have been another rival. I think Jose does not only fight against my teams. There are many good players. Of course, against big managers you have to pay more attention but that is normal. In Germany, Spain and Italy there are top managers.” On Sane's future, Guardiola added: "I don’t have any new news, I’m sorry. I would like to tell you. You would have to ask Txiki. The last thing we had, we offered him a contract a long time ago and he didn’t reject it. After that, we don’t have any news." Source- MEN Join us on Telegram!
