Press Conference: Frank Lampard provides HUGE injury update ahead of United clash speaks about Kepa and Ziyech

Chelsea returning from winter break and they are set to face Manchester United on Monday. Frank Lampard's side had started to look a little weary, going without a win in three Premier League games and with the likes of Mason Mount fading after a bright start to the season. Ahead of the game, boss Frank Lampard has faced the press. The boss gave an injury updates on Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham. “Christian trained with the U23s today, so won’t be fit. Ruben won’t be fit for this game. Tammy is still feeling the effects, to be honest. Trained today, but to be assessed,” said Lampard. A lot of talk has been regarding Hakim Ziyech, who will join the Blues in the summer from Ajax. “Quality in what he has got. The ability to make assists and score goals. We have had a lot of the ball but not the final ball, hopefully, he can bring that next season. He will have to fit in the way we want to play here, but the quality will hopefully be there to see. I had been watching him a lot. I was impressed against him at Tottenham last season. We want to bring in good people and he ticks a lot of boxes. I’m delighted.” Lampard was asked, does his presence mean Pedro and Willian out: “No it doesn’t. Conversations are ongoing with those players. They have both brought successful players with the club.” AFCON will mean losing Ziyech next season: “I am aware of it. I see the bigger picture. I think there is an issue with the cup being then.” Lampard also spoke about Kepa Arrizbalaga. “The reaction has been good as I would expect. I haven’t had lots of conversations with him. It’s a decision I will have to make,” said the boss. “It doesn’t matter when you came to the club, I don’t take into account the fee. It’s the training that counts. I have decided, and you’ll find out. “It wasn’t about giving him a jolt. It was just a selection on that day. I want everyone’s reaction spot on. I know how it will feel for him. I had it in my career, it is part and parcel. I am pleased with the reaction. I deal with the players as it feels right. I am open and straight with them.” Lampard was asked, has he seen a change in the players after winter break. “A bit of a tan. I haven’t seen a real visible difference, but it was a good thing. They have come back looking fresh. I want to be as successful as I can at this club. I love what I am doing. I enjoyed having a bit of time away, a bit of a small reboot.” The boss also spoke about Manchester United. “They are a good team, have added some players in January. I do expect a tough game on Monday and it’s a direct rival. With football that gaps can chop and change. We are aware of the points, United and Spurs are big games. It’s a game that we want to win. You can control your attitude and desire. We have three big home games.”  Source: Football.london Join us on Telegram!
