Press Conference: Frank Lampard on Nathan Ake, Fikayo Tomori and Giroud's future

After securing a place in the knockout stages of Champions League, Chelsea will be in action again on Saturday. The Blues will face AFC Bournemouth in their 17th Premier League game. Frank Lampard’s side are aiming for a victory to remain in top four, as they are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 29 points. Bournemouth, meanwhile, have 16 points and are 15th in the Premier League. They have lost all of their last five games. Ahead of the game, Chelsea boss Lampard faced the press. Fikayo Tomori has signed a new deal with Chelsea which will keep him at the club until 2024. “He has come a long way, it’s all his own doing. He has shown a work ethic and want to improve and listen. He is less quiet now, and everyone has seen last year and if he could do it in the Premier League. I have full trust in him. I am delighted for him and now it’s important the hard work starts again,” Lampard said on the matter. Chelsea are aiming to keep their place in top four. Lampard said: “I think it is up for grabs, there is a long way to go. A lot of work to do, we have our eyes on that. It is important that we keep proving people wrong. It has been a reminder for us that we’re not the finished article.” Olivier Giroud’s contract with the Blues will expire at the end of this season. Lampard was asked, whether he spoke to the France international regarding his future. “No. No. The players, all the players. I won’t have a talk about January until we get there. I am happy for him to stay, but I want everyone to be here for Chelsea. He has shown me that in training,” Lampard said. Chelsea have been linked with their former player Nathan Ake, on the case, Lampard said: “It is what it is. He has done fantastically well at Bournemouth. As terms as the back four, I am very happy with the defence. We have to worry about Bournemouth tomorrow and the other games before the window opens.” West Ham loss a warning?
I didn’t expect us to roll over WH, we didn’t play well. It could be part of the team talk that any team can beat you. Bournemouth have quality.
Rotate the midfield going forward?
Slightly. I am pleased with what I have in midfield. With the schedule and the rotation for the little bit, we want to change at times. The fatigue factor.
A test for you in the transfer window?
We want a top calibre of player to improve us. I am happy with the squad, we have to look if we can. It is a joint effort, scouting, board, I will reccomend players. I want players to come in who want to be a Chelsea player.
Pulisic, how far can he go?
More, a lot more. I am really pleased with him. I am asking a lot, but I want even more.
 Left-back, a problem area?
When you look at the players and the quality, it’s not a problem. I want the full-backs to join in a lot and get up and down. I want them to get involved. Emerson played really well the other night. I have options.
On Recce James
I don’t want to compare him on anybody. He has got a great role model in Azpilicueta. It is great for Reece to see that. He brings a lot of quality. He has done really well when he has stepped into the team. He played full-back a fair bit as well as midfield, perhaps that helped him. We are concentrating on what he can do on the full-back.
On Jurgen Klopp’s new deal with the Reds
Liverpool are huge in what they have done. Congratulations on the contract, it is fully deserved. We have so many great managers in the Premier League.
The game will take place on Saturday, December 14. Source- Football.london
