Press Conference: Frank Lampard comments on Watford, Emerson exit links and injury update on Kovacic

Chelsea take on Watford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Three points may be required to retain their spot in the top four of the Premier League standings. Watford make the trip to West London knowing that victory could put the club as many as four points above the relegation zone. Ahead of the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has faced the press. The Blues boss is nominated for the Premier League manager of the month award. On the matter, he said: "I have still got West Ham in my head! It is a small thing to be proud of. We played some good stuff in that period, that is a collective award." On Sunday, it will be one year, since Lampard took the charge at Stamford Bridge. "It certainly has been eventful and proud to be doing. It feels like a long time ago but has flown by. The experience has been a great one. There is a lot of work to do. I am focused on the next years ahead," he said. "There are always lots of little things. The result doesn't always mirror the way you play. I look at the way we work and I look forward rather than back." Emerson has been linked with a move away from Chelsea. Lampard has answered to the question about him. "I'm not aware of the talks. I am focusing on the team and squad. Those will be questions we will answer later," he said. Asked about their next opponents, Watford, Lampard said: "They are a dangerous team and they have a spirit within them. Restart has been difficult for different clubs in different ways. They have a very good side and are fighting for points." Lampard also spoke about defensive problems. "It's frustrating because I have talked about both ends of the pitch. There aren't many times where it has been more negative than positive. It's something we have to put right if we want to get up the table," he said. The boss also gave an injury update: "Fikayo is still not fit and Kovacic is going to be out with an Achilles problem. Maybe out of the next one, but hopefully not." Asked about Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, Lampard added: "They haven't arrived. We are waiting on quarantine news to see if they can travel, move and work. Werner is having a break and come back in late July. Ziyech earlier, but we have to wait on quarantine rules for that." Source: Football.london
