Press Conference: Frank Lampard on Cavani, Moses and Kepa. Reece James and Alonso injury updates

Chelsea set to face Arsenal in a midweek Premier League clash. In their latest match, the Blues suffered 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United. Ahead of the game against the Gunners, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has faced the press. Lampard provided updates on Reece James and Marcos Alonso. “He [James] has got an injury to the back of the knee. Not as bad as it could have been. In contention for tomorrow, but we will decide tomorrow. He has had an injury at the beginning of the season. Hopefully, he will be back tomorrow. Yes, Alonso is back fit.” On the need for a forward, Lampard said: “It has been a bit of a problem, but it doesn’t necessarily hasten things.” Is it a mental thing?
I wouldn’t isolate it like that, it’s many things. You rely on those moments of killer instinct and being calm. You can practice it, but we need to get better. It’s a ceiling if you can’t do that last bit.
Transfers
Nothing imminent. Long-term is difficult. There haven’t been so many. If you have to look short term then it’s something that we will look at.
Edinson Cavani
He is a great player. I am not sure what the situation is though. He has the experience, but many players are.
Olivier Giroud and Victor Moses
With Oli there isn’t much more to say. On Moses, he is coming back with a view to going somewhere else. Talks are ongoing.
Kepa Arrizabalaga
I will always defend all the players, goalkeepers hold their hands up as well. At times he has made good saves, at times he might feel he should do better. I didn’t have a direct conversation with him. I am sensitive to the fact that they understand the microscope. It is the same for any player. I try to push them, like everyone. He is a good goalkeeper. There have been times that he has saved us points.
Wanted more time in between games?
I’m not sure, it’s the same for Arsenal. It will be a very tough match. You want to change the feeling.
