Preseason friendly: Chelsea VS Kawasaki Frontale. Match Preview

Chelsea started their pre-season tour under Frank Lampard with a friendly game against St Patrick’s Athletic and beat them 4-0. The second game the Blues played against Bohemians and it ended with a 1-1 draw. Two games were played in Ireland. On Wednesday, the Blues have touched down in Japan and they are set to play against Kawasaki Frontale on Friday, July 19. Chelsea in recent seasons have taken their pre-season to Asia but haven’t played against Kawasaki Frontale before. The Japanese side qualified for the AFC Champions League in their 2018 campaign and currently third in the league this season, albeit with a game in hand. Chelsea will be welcoming Christian Pulisic to the squad for the first time as he joined up with the squad for the first time. N’Golo Kante has stepped up his recovery programme. However, Chelsea will be without Ethan Ampadou, who hasn’t travelled to Japan as Lampard hopes to send him out on loan. The game kicks-off at 11 am (UK time) on Friday 19 July. The match will be held at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama. This was the venue for the 2002 World Cup final between Brazil and Germany, with two goals from Ronaldo deciding the outcome.
