Brighton & Hove Albion were reportedly in advanced negotiations to secure the services of Tottenham Hotspur's Bryan Gil, as first revealed by Corriere dello Sport on January 25th.
Following this, TuttoMercatoWeb shed light on Brighton's keen interest in the talented winger just a day later. Despite considerable attention from Italian clubs Lazio and Fiorentina, neither were able to finalize a deal for the 22-year-old.
The Spaniard's preference was clear: he sought a move to a club willing to make a definitive commitment, preferably in the form of a loan with an option or obligation to buy.
Unfortunately for the Serie A outfits, they were pursuing a dry loan arrangement, which didn't align with Gil's aspirations. Interestingly, the Seagulls also failed to secure a deal for the promising Tottenham player.
However, reports suggest that the winger was willing to reconsider his stance for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, as they were reportedly the only club he was willing to accept on a dry loan basis.
Despite the flurry of interest and negotiations, the precise reasons behind Albion's inability to finalize the deal in January remain undisclosed.
