Philippe Coutinho criticized for “not doing enough” at Bayern Munich

Philippe Coutinho is facing criticism for not doing enough at creating attacks for Bayern Munich. Sport Blind were impressed by the Brazilian playmaker, but insisted: “Two or three magic passes is not enough." Coutinho is on loan from Barcelona and plays for Bundesliga champions for less than two months. On Saturday, they suffered their first loss this season to Hoffenheim, which made German media to doubt Coutinho’s contribution. The 27-year-old had just 59 touches of the ball through the whole match and it was the lowest he has recorded. His performance was compared to his first game for Bayern when he made 31 passes against Mainz before being substituted. However, Bayern boss Niko Kovac seems to admire Coutinho as he hailed him after the win against Paderborn: “Philippe speaks for himself really. I think everyone in the stadium today and everyone who watched the match once again saw the ability he has and the quality he has on the ball. At times it really looks like he’s dancing with the ball, there’s no other way of saying it. He knows exactly when, how and what to do with the ball." If Coutinho fails to impress with his performance in Munich, Bayern are likely to prefer Leroy Sane of Manchester City, who was their initial key target.
