Peter Whittingham, former Cardiff, Aston Villa and Blackburn midfielder, has died, aged 35. He was fighting for his life in Cardiff’s Heath Hospital. Whittingham started his career from Aston Villa, where he won the FA Youth Cup in 2002. Later he moved to Cardiff, having made 413 appearances and scoring 85 goals during his 10-year playing time with the Bluebirds. He led the club to the Premier League for the first time and also helped them to the FA Cup final in 2008 and League Cup final in 2012, later moving to Blackburn. Whittingham’s wife, Amanda, is currently pregnant.
