Pep Guardiola makes title admission ahead of the final game

Pep Guardiola admits he feared Manchester City’s title chances had gone when City trailed Liverpool by seven points when the two sides met at the Etihad Stadium in January. City won the game 2-1 but Guardiola admits the title race would have been over had Jurgen Klopp’s side won to extend their lead to 10 points. “First of all it’s a dream to be here,” said Guardiola. “I didn’t expect it when we were seven points behind. So it’s a dream come true. We’ve shown many things, now it’s not the moment to say - 'we have a chance to be champions'. “If we make back-to-back titles it would be nice, but nothing is going to change too much. The fact we have done incredibly well all season, now we have two finals in our last two games, we must play well, be strong. There will be difficult moments and we'll try to make a good game, play how we want to play and try not worry too much. We have a plan to win the game as we have all season. “It’s so nice, a privilege to be here. For me, a month ago, I didn’t expect it, but we fought and we're in this position because we won a lot of games, 13 in a row, and now we have to win one more. I saw the team relaxed, training good and smiling, they are completely focused. But it’s a game where anything can happen - one mistake, one incredible performance, a mistake from the referee can decide the title.” Guardiola’s side will face Brighton, while Klopp’s men will play against Wolves. The Sky Blues are one point ahead of title rivals, the Reds.
