Pep Guardiola ‘knows’ Manchester City would make Champions League final with Liverpool’s crowd

Liverpool legend John Aldridge claims Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola knows he would be able to win the Champions League if the Etihad had an atmosphere like Anfield. Guardiola won two back-to-back Premier League titles in charge of City, however, his side failed to gain European success. Earlier in the summer, Guardiola referred to Anfield as being like “no other stadium in the world.” In their latest Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield, Guardiola’s side suffered 3-1 defeat. “The atmosphere inside the ground was tremendous again and the Anfield crowd know exactly to react when they're asked to by the manager,” he wrote in his Liverpool Echo column. “When our lot are on it and really get behind the team, there really is nowhere better. For Guardiola to say, it's the hottest ground in world football, wow what a show of respect that is from a man who's played and coached all over the world. “He knows that if City had a crowd like ours, they would get to the Champions League final because they are able to help so much. Unfortunately for him, it's like a concrete jungle at the Etihad, there's no atmosphere there. “Anfield is a hotbed and we know that it has made the difference on many occasions in the past and pushed the Liverpool team beyond what they thought they were capable of. Liverpudlians have always good at responding to calls to arms but the Klopp factor has taken it onto a new level, such is the respect and love the fans have for the boss.” Source- Express
