Pep Guardiola on Kevin De Bryune: “He was so sad”

Manchester City have been dealt a huge setback with Kevin De Bryune fearful he will be out for at least a month with a knee injury that will force him out of next week’s Manchester derby. The Belgium midfielder asked to come off immediately in the 85th minute of City’s 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Fulham at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night. The Belgian underwent scans on Friday at the CFA. No surgery is needed but he is expected to be out for between 5-6 weeks. During the press conference, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said: “ De Bruyne is out and we are sad for him, nobody likes to have injured players but he will come back to the player he is and he will be fine. It is what it is but fortunately it is not surgery and he will be back. Yesterday he was so sad, but he can spend this time with his new boy and his family. But after the international break, he will be back stronger to help us achieve our targets.”
