Guardiola confronted the Spanish official immediately after the half time whistle blew against Liverpool and was forced to watch the remainder of the match from the stands.
Leroy Sane’s goal that would have put Manchester City 2-0 against Liverpool , was wrongly ruled out by Antonio Mateu Lahoz and his assistants which made Guardiola get angry and say something to the Spanish officials he shouldn't.
‘I said it was ‘a goal’ at half time.’ said Guardiola. ‘That’s why he sent me off. It’s different to go to 1-0 not 2-0, it’s different when Salah’s first goal at Anfield is offside. ‘These are the things that influence things. Big congratulations to Liverpool, top team and top manager. ‘I didn’t insult the referee, I just said ‘it’s a goal, it came off Milner!” ‘I know him [the referee] from Spain, so I could imagine that.’
