Pep Guardiola has noticed what Phil Foden does every day in Manchester City training

Phil Foden has the passion and skills to achieve 'big things' for Manchester City, according to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola. If the 20-year-old plays against Fulham on Saturday, he will become the third City player to reach the landmark of 50 appearances in the Premier League before turning 21. Guardiola had more kind words for Foden, as he was asked to comment on the landmark of 50 league appearances. "It's a good compliment," Guardiola said. "We're more than delighted to have Phil with us, for the Academy, for the message we can give – if you have the skills and especially the passion. What I love from Phil is it is special to play football. It’s the only thing he has in his mind, to be a better player, to achieve big things for himself for the club and the national team." Guardiola will have obviously been impressed with Foden's performances in those 49 appearances to date, but the manager stressed that the midfielder's attitude in training was a quality that stood out on a daily basis. He continued: "In training players like him are a dream come true for all the managers. For the fact he has passion. Normally when you become older you start to lose a little bit of this but he’s like a little boy. When he goes on the pitch in the training session, first of all he is looking for the ball, to touch the ball and play with his mates. "It’s just the first achievement, 50 games, and I think he’ll play much more in the future. Hopefully, he can have the passion to improve, to feel he is getting better, but knowing him it’s going to happen."
