Pep Guardiola explains why Manchester City still surpass Liverpool as team of the decade

Pep Guardiola has explained why Manchester City still surpass Liverpool as the team of the decade. The Citizens have become the most successful Premier League club of the past 10 years, as they have won 13 trophies since 2010 compared to Liverpool's three. Now City face hard times, with the Reds on their way to win the league title, leaving the Blues 14 points behind. However, Guardiola believes his club has set the standarts others have to follow. He said: "This team, in the last decade, was the best. Now the people say it (2019) was a disaster, but we won four titles and it was incredible. We’ve struggled a bit this season, but it’s still been incredible. We’ve been fighting with huge elephants here in England, but they’ve done amazing. The big clubs are always looking forward, always analysing what they can do better. Hopefully in the next decade this club can be here for more time." Guardiola has given up hope of reaching Liverpool this season. However, it should't interfere the Citizens "work harder". "All we can do is work harder, play better, and pray. There are things we cannot control, there are other issues we cannot control, we cannot control what a fantastic team like Liverpool have done so far and there are other issues you cannot control. When everyone is fit we can do it. This is still a fantastic team and I love it. We’ve had problems with injuries, which sometimes happens. Liverpool have been incredible, they are European champions and they have dropped just two points. We have to congratulate them. I know the distance we are is not what it should be - but it is what it is," the club boss added.
