Pep Guardiola explains Manchester City situation with John Stones and Eric Garcia

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed he decided not to include John Stones in the playing squad against Tottenham, despite the defender didn't have any injuries. Instead of the English professional Guiardiola preferred to play 19-year-old Erica Garcia. Stones has started in just three games out of eight returning to the game at the start of January. In the Cup games against Fulham and Manchester United Stones played a combined 17 minutes in total, and Guardiola decided not to include the player in Sunday's Premier League fixture against the Spurs. The City boss said: "No injury, I decided to bring Eric, Eric played so good when he played so I bring him." Guardiola insisted John hadn't fallen below Garcia as the club's defensive option, however, the decision of not including Stones in the squad may raise doubts over the player's long-term future at the club. Asked if Garcia is ahead of Stones in his thoughts, Guardiola said: "No, I move the team and the squad and try to keep everybody involved."
