Pep Guardiola has revealed the reason behind the absence of Kyle Walker and John Stones from Manchester City's squad against Brentford.
The Citizens are set to face their Premier League rivals on Wednesday evening, while the club duo was not included in the team.
Walker has not featured for the Citizens since RB Leipzig defeat in the Champions League at the start of December. Meanwhile, his close friend
Dom Yarwood tragically passed away.
Being asked about the player's absence from the upcoming match, Guardiola said (via
City Xtra):
“Of course, we are all sad for the tragedy of Kyle’s close friend passing away, but right now he cannot be with us because he is not fit and this is all I can say,”
Speaking about Stones, the boss added:
“John Stones was injured [for the Leicester game].”
