Pep Guardiola avoids FA action for referee comments after Liverpool clash

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola won't face any action from FA for his comments to the referees after the club's 3 - 1 defeat to Liverpool. City was denied a penalty of an apparent handball in the box in the lead-up to Liverpool's opener. The last win led Liverpool standing 9 points ahead of the Citizens in the Premier League table. After the final whistle Guardiola was seen on the TV cameras approaching Michael Oliver and saying "Thank you so much". The manager's actions were thought to be sarcastic. Speaking on the matter, Guardiola told: “It was not sarcastic, I say thank you so much all the time,” Guardiola said. I said the same at the Tottenham game at home. All the time I go to referees I say thank you so much." Oliver was the referee in charge for Manchester City 2 - 2 draw with Tottenham in August. At that time Rodri was denied a penalty when Eric Lamela pushed him over from a corner, while Gabriel Jesus' last minute winnin goal was ruled out.
