Paul Scholes has criticised Manchester United midfielder Fred for his display against Roma last night.

The Red Devils celebrated an impressive win over the Europa League rivals with a score of 6 – 2, with Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, and Mason Greenwood scoring the winning goals for their side.

Despite the huge win, United legend, however, was not impressed by Fred’s defensive contribution in the first half of the game.

“That’s what Fred is in the team for, he’s in the team to stop this type of thing,” Scholes told BT Sport.

“From their best midfield player he gets in behind them [United’s defence]. Fred… please stop that.

“He contributes nothing going forward and his absolute job is to stop that type of thing. And he’s been left wanting again.”
