Luka Modric claims Liverpool were not “comfortable” anymore after Real Madrid’s disallowed goal in the Champions League final.
Real Madrid star has admitted that Jurgen Klopp’s team were “pressing high” in the first half of the game. Before the break, Karim Benzema opened the score for Los Blancos, however, the goal was disallowed.
Modric believes that little momentum changed the mentality of the Reds and gave Carlo Ancelotti’s side the power to succeed in the second half.
“In the first half, I think we defend too much,” he told CBS Sports on Paramount+.. “We didn’t have too much of the ball.
“Liverpool were pressing high and they did well. But we stayed calm and didn’t panic.
“In the second half, we played much better and had more possession – and then we scored the goal.
“I think, from that disallowed goal, we started believing more and I think, for Liverpool, they panicked and they weren’t that comfortable anymore.”
