Out-of-favour Tottenham star to be handed extended run by Jose Mourinho

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho will hand Matt Doherty an extended run in the side club's hectic fixture schedule over the next few weeks, after Serge Aurier made a defensive mistake in the 2-0 loss to Leicester City on Sunday, according to Football Insider. Aurier has been in an amazing form for the last two months and has kept Doherty out of the side with his near-flawless displays. However, the 27-year-old made a foolish foul right on the stroke of half time to gift the away side a penalty, which Jamie Vardy converted to put the Foxes 1-0 up. So, Mourinho has reportedly seen enough and will now give Doherty an extended run in the team, with the former Wolves man not having featured in the Premier League since the 1-0 win over West Brom at the start of November. The report also claims that the Spurs boss always planned to rotate to his full-backs and has now informed the Republic of Ireland international to be ready to play several matches in succession.
