Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to axe six Manchester United first-teamers in January

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could axe as many as six members of his first-team squad to make room for new arrivals, according to the Sun. The Red Devils will enter into the transfer market if one of their top targets becomes available for the right price. However, they are looking to offload several players. Sergio Romero is all-but-certain to leave after a failed deadline day move last summer. Phil Jones has struggled with injuries this campaign and could join Romero on his way out of the club. Newcastle target Marcos Rojo is surplus to requirements and has not made a single appearance for the club yet this season. Jesse Lingard and Dan James have been on the fringes of Solskjaer's first-team. Meanwhile, Brandon Williams is set to be sent out on loan with Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen leading the race.
