Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that Manchester United duo Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek lacked quality in the defeat to West Ham and ‘their best form isn’t there’ at the moment.
Manuel Lanzini’s 9th minute goal handed West Ham United a win to force the Red Devils out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Head coach Solskjaer had no complaints over the work-rates of the England and Netherlands internationals, but he did not have much to say for what they did with the ball at their feet.
"I can’t complain about the effort. It has something to do with the rhythm, the confidence," Solskjaer said via Viaplay.
"Their best form isn’t there as they haven’t played much. Good for them to get time, but we didn’t get the result.
"So like I said, there was a bit lacking in terms of quality, but not in terms of effort."
On van de Beek, United head coach added:
"It was sloppy. Poor start again, as we’ve talked about a number of times after games.
"That we’ve had to come from behind in games. We tried to do what we could, but we didn’t have enough."
