Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and football director John Murtough have identified Sporting Lisbon winger Pedro Goncalves as a cheaper alternative to Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho. The 22-year-old has scored 15 times in 22 appearances in Portugal.
A release clause in Goncalves’ contract means he’s available for £51.7million this summer. While Sancho remains a high-level target for United, the Red Devils would have to blow their budget on the former Manchester City winger.
According to the Telegraph, United view Goncalves as an affordable alternative to Sancho but that Solskjaer will be given a final say on any deal.
