Ojo, Woodburn: Five Liverpool players you forgot were still at the club and face uncertain futures

Liverpool just need six more points to win the Premier League title. After 100-day suspension, Premier League start today but it was a long break and it may have led supporters to forget some of their players. From fringe players to those out on loan, Liverpool themselves have several faces who may have gone under the radar. Nathaniel Clyne has survived a blazing time with injury over the last few years and consequently lost his place in the starting lineup to Trent Alexander-Arnold. The 29-year-old will leave the club at the end of his current contract on July 1, which will see him become a free agent in rather unique circumstances. Having been on loan at Turkish club Besiktas for the last two seasons, Loris Karius’ recent return to Liverpool raises a number of questions about his future. However, the likelihood of him coming back into the fold at Anfield seems unlikely. Ben Woodburn, once considered one of the club’s most exciting youngsters, but his development has been stunted by a mixture of injuries and other misfortunes. The attacking midfielder is still only 20, which puts things into perspective as he looks to recover from a foot injury sustained earlier this season. Reports have suggested that Xherdan Shaqiri could be leaving Anfield this summer after a rather curious two-year spell. He has been used sporadically since arriving from Stoke City in 2018, but he has been less involved in 2019/20. Sheyi Ojo has been on loan at several clubs since 2015, spending time with Wolves, Fulham, Reims and, more recently, Rangers. The 22-year-old faces a crossroads in his career. For Ojo’s personal growth, a move away from Anfield would make sense. Source: Daily Star
