Novak Djokovic unsure of fitness ahead Paris Masters clash with Kyle Edmund

Novak Djokovic does not expect to have recovered from illness in a time to face Kyle Edmund on Thursday. The Serbian was under the weather during his straight-sets win over Corentin Moutent. The world No 1 was asked if he expects to be fit in time for the clash with Edmund. “Expect, no. Hope, yes,” Djokovic replied. But when asked if the Serbian has been feeling unwell for days then was he close to pulling out of the tournament, the Serb answered: “No not really. I actually when I came here, Friday, I felt ok the first couple of days. Then the last few days something, unfortunately, caught up with my and health-wise I’m not feeling my best. “I have had quite a few cases where I have already been in a tournament and getting better as days go by. Of course, it affects your energy and vitality on the court, alertness, attention and all these different things. It’s not ideal but in this kind of circumstances you just have to accept it and do everything you can to recover.”
