Tony Cascarino says he’s “not surprised” that Tottenham won’t be bringing Gareth Bale back to the club.

Bale is back to his father club, Real Madrid, after spending his loan spell with the Spurs.

There have been talks over the Wales international’s possible return to the North London club, however, Nuno Mendes has now confirmed that it won’t happen, (via Football London).

“No, it’s not a surprise,” said Cascarino. “His goal record was good. I don’t think that’s the way forward for Spurs to take on Gareth again.

“Look, he’s a fabulous player and I have said it many times that no-one has done as well as him abroad. Not even close.

“He has been the best player, certainly from the British Isles to go abroad and be successful.

“I just don’t think it’s a long term solution for Spurs. I think they have to have an element of a younger team and a bit of a dynamic side. And a side that needs to be built pretty quickly.”
