Nigel Clough makes a verdict on Leicester City’s Carabao Cup victory over Burton Albion

Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough made a verdict on Leicester City’s 3-1 Carabao Cup win over his team. He revealed he was “very proud” of his Burton team after they pushed Leicester all the way in Tuesday’s game. The Foxes’ Kelechi Iheanacho, Youri Tiemans and James Maddison scored for their team, while Liam Boyce of Burton netted his clubs’ only goal. “We think their starting 11 was worth £100 million out there, so it’s very difficult when you have that quality against you and you give them a goal in the first few minutes," said Clough. "But in the second half we gave them a game and we caused them problems. We got a goal back and had a real go at them. We are very proud of the effort we put in and we are disappointed to lose. We were in the game until the 88th minute when Kieran Wallace slipped and that third goal has gone in and killed it.” After the victory, Leicester City have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
