Nicolas Pepe’s agent responds to Arsenal’s £70m bid

Arsenal are one of many clubs interested in Nicolas Pepe to strengthen their forward line ahead of next season. The Gunners were having talks to sign Pepe, but the French club’s asking price was too high for Unai Emery’s side as they are limited with only £40million on budget. Reports claim that Arsenal have submitted an €80m proposal to Lille and the offer is being considered by the French club’s hierarchy. However, Pepe’s agent, Samir Khiat, appeared to troll the reports by saying: ‘Oh, really?’ when reacting to L’Equipe’s claim they had verified the transfer story with the player’s team. BBC Sport also claim there is no truth to the rumour, insisting Arsenal do not have the budget to complete such a big deal this summer.
