Fans wait to hear who will fill in for the seven-time World Champion at Mercedes. George Russell is reportedly being considered despite him being under contract to the Williams F1 Team, while Mercedes reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne is another, perhaps more realistic option. Nico Rosberg has also called on the Silver Arrows to give Russell a chance to compete at the front of the grid. “Petition for Mercedes to race @GeorgeRussell63 this weekend! Would be great! Most importantly though: All the best @LewisHamilton for a fast health recovery,” the German tweeted this afternoon. It’s unclear if Hamilton will be able to compete in the season finale at Abu Dhabi, so his replacement could end up pairing Bottas for two race weekends.
