Newcastle United star provides latest injury update in fresh photo

Following Newcastle United's 4-4 draw with Luton, the team faced another injury setback as Anthony Gordon was photographed leaving St James' Park on crutches.

Gordon, who was substituted at half-time during the match, was seen wearing a protective boot on his right foot after the game. Fans spotted the 22-year-old at the MetroCentre over the weekend, where he provided an update on his injury.

Photos posted by Liam McMahon revealed the Englishman still on crutches but without the boot, mentioning his sore ankle and awaiting a scan for further evaluation.

Eddie Howe commented on the player's injury, stating that it appeared to be an ankle twist causing significant pain.

"It looked like he twisted his ankle. I didn't see how he did it but he was in a lot of pain at half-time so he had to come off.

"No idea. It was sore enough for him to come off, that was his decision, he knew he couldn't continue. We hope it's not bad, he's an important player for us and we missed him when he went off."

The setback adds to Newcastle's injury woes, despite the recent return of Wilson and Barnes. Additionally, the team now faces the absence of Alexander Isak, who suffered a groin issue during the match against Aston Villa.
