Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin has expressed his intention to remain at St James' Park amid speculation linking him to Tottenham.
According to the Daily Mail (via HITC), the player wants to fight for his place in the team and has not given up on Newcastle.
While he had been considered a potential asset for the club to sell and raise funds for transfers, Saint-Maximin now desires to represent the Magpies in the Champions League and is prepared to stay.
The report suggests that he also wants a new contract to align his wages with the club's recent signings. Although Newcastle are currently unwilling to offer that, the forward believes he can persuade the club by performing well in the upcoming season.
Saint-Maximin is reportedly optimistic that playing in the Champions League could increase his chances of earning a spot in the French national team.
