Neil Critchley speaks on taking charge of Liverpool, Shrewsbury Town and many more: Press Conference

Liverpool are preparing to play against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup 4th round replay. Ahead of the game, the Reds U23s manager Neil Critchley has given a press conference as Jurgen Klopp and his first team will not participate in the FA Cup replay. First game between the Reds and Shrewsbury ended in a 2-2 draw. The upcoming game is scheduled on Tuesday, February 4. On taking charge at Anfield: "Incredible really. I never thought it would happen once (being in charge of first team) let alone twice. Looking forward to what will be a special night. Young players will get a unique opportunity. "I hope the young players can play in many ways as they did at Villa but hopefully make more of a game of it. The support will be behind us and hopefully we can have a great night. "It's important the messages are similar (to what Klopp would say). We work on our process, our plan. You're never quite sure what young players produce as still learning the game, but that's the beauty of it." "We are coming up against experienced players who know how to play their game. I'm interested to see how our young players will do." On words from Klopp: "The manager has made it quite clear with his statement. He gives myself, staff and players unbelievable support. I can speak to him whenever I like when I'm down here. Even when he isn't there, his presence is felt by younger players and myself.  On the first team connection: "There has been a real connection between the younger players and the first team players." On Shrewsbury: "Shrewsbury deserved their replay. They created a lot of problems for us. Obviously we will have a different team but maybe the expectation is different for them given the team they will be facing. That's what makes it an intriguing, exciting cup tie. There's a bit of unknown." On Villa performance: “They’ll learn about themselves. I was pleased with a lot of aspects of that performance but I wasn’t pleased with the result. “We didn’t do well in both penalty boxes. We didn’t keep the ball out of one end and we didn’t score in the other. Our aim is to do better at that tomorrow night.”  On people saying Liverpool don't have a chance: "Not us, inwardly. We are looking to give ourselves an opportunity to win the game. Is there more pressure on Shrewsbury to win the game now? Possibly. But that might work in our favour." On team spirit: “They run through brick walls for each other, I think you have seen that already this season they fight for the cause. Tomorrow it might be the ones who haven’t played who come to the fore.” On team news: "Yasser Larouci came off last week (for U23s) we have today and tomorrow and we'll find out the latest at a meeting today. Hopefully he makes it, if he doesn't it provides opportunity for one or two others." source - LiverpoolECHO
