We need to be brave: Mauricio Pochettino speaks out on the upcoming Manchester City clash

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has spoken out on the upcoming Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Manchester City.

Spurs will have three matches against Guardiola’s side, and the first will be the Champions League match. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host the first UCL match in its’ history.

Argentine coach has spoken about the expectations (via Tottenham’s official website): “It’s going to be amazing. An amazing experience. It’s going to be fantastic with all of our fans to play in the Champions League. We are so excited and I’m so excited because it’s going to be, of course a tough game because Manchester City is one of the best teams in the world, but in the same way it is a massive challenge.”

Pochettino has revealed what the team need to have in order to succeed.

“The key is to be brave and try to win the game – that is the most important thing. Of course everyone can have different opinions on the approach but for us it is to be brave.” he added.

“We are going to play at home and we need to be brave in the way that we are going to play. From the first moment we need to be brave and try to win the game – that is the idea and our challenge for the game tomorrow.

Tottenham boss says he gave his players a simple message.

“I told the it’s a bonus. Play with freedom, run, tackle, play, shoot, save. I think tomorrow is a bonus for us and we need to play with freedom and try to be ourselves. That is the most important thing.” Pochettino concluded.
