Rafael Nadal won his 19th Grand Slam title after beating Daniil Medvedev from Russia 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4, in the US Open. Nadal reached the final by having won over Italian Matteo Berrettini, meanwhile Medvededv beat Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. After winning the US Open, Nadal was asked about whether Medvedev represents a future without the 'Big Three'- him, Federer and Djokovic, to which the Spaniard answered: "I think the transition started a while ago but the three of us are still here. We keep fighting for what motivates us." Later Nadal was asked to describe his achievement. "The game turned very dramatic towards the end and that's what makes it unforgettable, a part of my history in this sport. This trophy means everything to me. The way I managed to get through all of the difficult moments gives me great personal satisfaction. I tried to contain my emotions, but it was impossible," said Nadal. via AS
