Arsenal have activated a clause in Nacho Monreal’s contract to extend the defender’s stay at the Emirates, according to ESPN FC.
While talks over Monreal’s long term contract are still on hold, Arsenal have exercised the option to tie Monreal down to an extra year.
The player is in the final year of his current deal which is set to expire in the summer, but he will not be able to leave for free at the end of the campaign with Arsenal facing a potential exodus of player.
