Nabil Fekir emerged as one of Liverpool’s top targets, however, the results of a routine medical flagged up potential issues regarding a long-standing knee problem and the Reds pulled the plug on a deal.
According to Express Sport, Chelsea also held talks with Lyon concerning Fekir.
However, Lyon chief Jean-Michael Aulas is confident Nabil Fekir will stay at the club this season.
"We will have to wait until the end of the transfer window," said Aulas on Sunday.
"But he will stay, at 95 per cent. We’ve seen the love of the fans for him. Lyon is a great city of football."
