Mikel Arteta reveals details of "difficult" conversation with Mesut Ozil

Mikel Arteta has revealed he has found it difficult to tell Mesut Ozil he had been left out of Arsenal's Europa League squad. The 32-year-old has found his playing time limited with the Gunners and has been out of action since March. Though the German World Cup winner continues his training with the squad, his career at Emirates Stadium seems to be over. "I spoke to them face to face before I released the squad and I explained the reason why the numbers that we had," Arteta said ahead of Saturday’s match against Manchester City. "It was really difficult to tell them that, but these are the restrictions and the rules. We have to respect that decision and try to train in the best possible way to help the team in that moment and see what happens in December."
