Mikel Arteta makes captaincy decision over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after disciplinary issue

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has reportedly decided he will not take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off captaincy duties despite his disciplinary issues at the weekend. The 31-year-old star was dropped to the bench for the north London derby win against Tottenham on Sunday after arriving late to a team meeting ahead of the game. And some had suggested Arteta may choose to take Aubameyang of the captaincy in order to further punish the player for his behaviour. However, according to The Sun this will not be the case, as Gunners boss considers the issue dealt with and does not wish to take it any further. Arteta has by and large received praise for his decision to drop Aubameyang, with a number of high-profile figures lauding his leadership skills.
