Mikel Arteta is set to be the favorite to win the battle of getting Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling this summer.
It’s never been a secret that the Spanish manager is the forward ‘s admirer and could lead him to the Emirates over Tottenham.
With Erling Haaland’s move to Manchester, it’s getting more and more clear that the English International will leave the Etihad in the upcoming transfer window.
The 27-year-old’s contract expires in 2023 and according to Daily Telegraph, the Gunners are ready to make an offer.
During one of his interviews back in October, Sterling admitted he is ‘open’ to move if there’s more playing time.
“If there was the option to go somewhere else for more game time I would be open to it.”
“He’s a person that had a lot of say here.” said the forward said on Arteta last year via FourFourTwo.
“The manager trusted him here and he had a lot of influence on the players here and the team as well.
“So I knew once he went into Arsenal that it would be a great opportunity for him but also he would definitely implement what he wanted to bring in.
“And he’s a person that will put his foot down and not let things slide as you can see with the boys at Arsenal. They know if they don’t run they are most likely not going to play.”
