Michael Owen reveals Jose Mourinho's tactical mistake in Tottenham's defeat at Liverpool

Michael Owen thinks Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho made mistakes in his tactics during his side's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night. The Reds climbed above Spurs into first-place after the victory at Anfield, with Roberto Firmino scoring a 90th minute winner. Son Heung-min had equalised for Mourinho's side in the first-half, after Mo Salah's opener for the reigning champions. And former England forward believes Mourinho was wrong to go for a 4-4-2 against the Reds - with Jurgen Klopp opting with his standard 4-3-3 formation. Owen said on Amazon Prime:  “I think it was significant. All of the challengers would have been looking at that and thinking that a draw would’ve been a good result. "If anything, maybe Spurs to win, but for Liverpool to win - the reigning champions - in the last minute, I think that would have been a dagger into the heart of a few teams watching that last night. "It was a fascinating game. I thought Liverpool were absolutely brilliant last night in terms of possession, in the first-half, they didn’t create too many chances but I wasn’t sure of Jose’s tactics to be honest. "They played a 4-4-2 and Liverpool had a spare man in midfield all of the time. In the second-half, Spurs had the best chances, and couldn’t convert and suffered a killer blow at the end. "It’s a massive result for Liverpool, that one.” Spurs are next in action on Sunday afternoon as they welcome Leicester City to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in another massive Premier League clash.
