Mercedes star told what to expect ahead of Mexico Grand Prix

Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton, who could’ve wrapped up the fifth championship of his career in Austin at the United States Grand Prix last weekend, told what to expect ahead of Mexico Grand Prix. The 33-year-old finished third with Vettel fourth as Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen earned a first race win in five years to end Hamilton’s four-year dominance of the Stateside race. With 75 points available remaining, Hamilton boasts a 70-point lead. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff is concerned about the threat that their rivals Ferrari and Red Bull will pose. "Our next stop brings us to Mexico City where we will face a very different challenge,” the Austrian said. “The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is an outlier given its high altitude and the demands this puts on the cars and power units. It has been one of the weaker tracks for us in previous years and we expect a hard fight with Ferrari and Red Bull. "The weather forecast predicts conditions similar to those we had in Austin which might throw everyone another curveball by limiting dry running. “We know that it is not going to be an easy race, but everyone in the team is focused, motivated and determined to keep the pressure on until the chequered flag in Abu Dhabi." And despite their advantage in both championships, Wolff insists Hamilton and Mercedes as a whole cannot get complacent. He added: “This has been the most difficult season so far. You could see, some races were going in our favour and then Ferrari was again very strong. "Then, we had a good run and now Ferrari had a really good weekend. Imagine Sebastian wasn't spinning out on lap one... I think he would probably have won the race easily. "In the Drivers' Championship, we are in a solid position. We mustn't drop the ball. We've seen this in the past with other teams. "With the Constructors' Championship that is very important for the team. Nothing is done yet. There are 129 points to be scored to the 66 lead that we have. "Of course, that is also a good buffer but no reason to think that we have the trophy in our hands because you can see we don't have it in our hands." The Mexico Grand Prix weekend gets underway with the first practice session at 4pm UK time on Friday.
