Max Verstappen's Red Bull Imola admission a clear warning to Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton’s journey for a record-breaking eighth Drivers’ Championship is under threat. The British driver finished second after Max Verstappen’s commanding win at last Sunday’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The race created a nail-biting battle between Mercedes and Red Bull. “After last year, where we always struggled in the wet, over the winter and the beginning of the year we definitely made some improvement with that and [at Imola] it was very good,” Verstappen noted. Red Bull’s strong start to the season puts the Austrian team in a prime position to bring home their first Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships since Sebastian Vettel in 2013. Speaking to Sky Sports F1 after the race, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said: “It's by far the best start we've had for quite a few years now. We just want to keep building the momentum. We’ve got to take it all the way through the year.” Hamilton leads the Drivers’ Championship by a single point, ahead of Verstappen, whilst team-mate Bottas is fifth behind Norris and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
