Max Verstappen’s dad reveals the truth behind Mercedes rumours after Toto Wolff phone call

Jos Verstappen, Formula 1 driver Max’s father has hit back at Red Bull chief Helmut Marko after Toto Wolff phone call. Verstappen has been rumoured to make a shocking switch from Red Bull Racing to Mercedes for the 2020 Formula 1 season. Red Bull racing manager Marko confirmed that Verstappen and his father Jos have been contacted on numerous occasions by Mercedes team principal and CEO Toto Wolff over the last several months. “Toto Wolff calls him and his father repeatedly and has done for months,” Marko said. “I’m relaxed. The clause in Max’s contract should be safe, and he feels comfortable with us. If we provide him with a material capable of winning the world championship, I’m not worried that he will go.” However, Jos has moved to rubbish the claim. “That’s nonsense,” Jos told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. “Toto never calls Max. I don’t even think he has his number. I occasionally speak to Toto, but that makes sense. We are very satisfied with Red Bull and cooperation with Honda. We are working together to make a dream come true.” Verstappen is under contract with Red Bull until the end of the season. Source- Express
