Maurizio Sarri has revealed that he will have a meeting with the club next week regarding a new permanent captain for the Blues. The current holder of the armband is Gary Cahill but he has barely featured for Chelsea this season.
Cesar Azpilcueta, who has assumed the role in his absence in the Premier League is the favourite to take on the duty on a full-time basis.
"Not at the moment but I will have a meeting with the club at the beginning of next week," Sarri announced ahead of Chelsea's game against MOL Vidi in the Europa League.
According to The Telegraph, Azpilcueta is the frontrunner at present, while Eden Hazard could also become a possible candidate if he signs a new contract with Chelsea. David Luiz, who has made a big impression so far this campaign on his return to the team, is another contender for the armband.
Sarri will make a decision this week.
