Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia has named two reasons why Trevoh Chalobah has been rewarded with a new long-term contract.
The 22-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Blues after his stellar start to the 2021/22 season.
Granovskaia and head coach Thomas Tuchel had agreed to keep Chalobah in the playing squad after impressive displays in pre-season as well as in the new campaign.
After the contract signing with the youngster, Granovskaia explained the two key factors that helped the Chelsea board make the decision. She told the
Chelsea FC website:
"To see Trevoh joining so many of his fellow Academy graduates in the men’s first team is something we are exceptionally proud of as a Club. When he scored in the first game of the Premier League season, it was an emotional moment for everyone involved in his progress to this point.
"His performances in the early months of the season, as well as his attitude and professionalism, have impressed us all and we are very pleased to be able to reward Trevoh’s progress with this new long-term contract."
